I am a busy stay at home mom, formerly known as ‘busy working mum’. A recent move to the US means that for the first time in 20 years I do not have a job… I am discovering, what should have been blindingly obvious, that staying home is way harder, for me, than working was! Couple that with the cultural differences (it’s not quite like the TV shows you know…) – my life has changed!

I have three beautiful children, two boys and a girl, who by turns amaze, amuse and drive me nuts. My wonderful husband is fantastically hands on with the kids, puts up with my ‘it’s a disaster’ moments with good grace, can’t keep up with any TV that has more than two characters and has selective deafness…

This blog is about, to almost quote a famous song, a Scottish woman in Boston (I most definitely take tea my dear) coping with life, kids, schools and an unexpected language barrier! Tea and cake (preferably in a cafe, on my own…), sci-fi shows and pink fizz keep me sane, after a fashion :)

I can certainly relate to the ‘language barrier’ having moved from the US to New Zealand! Who’d have thought it’d be so hard!

I know! It’s nothing major, just lots of little things :) And then there’s the spelling…! Some days I feel that every conversation I have has resulted in a blank look at some point :) Of course my accent also doesn’t help! Thanks so much for commenting xx

    H i Sara,
Looks like life in Boston is treating you all well. So delighted for you. I have read some of your blogs they are so funny. I am sure you days are filled with funny stories to tell. I think Fergal talks to Mick every so often. It is lovely so see the children so happy and contented. Enjoy the summer , Ann x
